Urgent Care Job Description

Certified Family Nurse Practitioner - Full and part-time positions available

Job Summary:

Provides episodic care to patients following accepted standards and protocols.

• Perform complete physical exams and assessments of patients including urgent, emergent and non‑urgent presentation.
• Select, order, perform and interpret diagnostic tests, EKG including wet reading X‑rays as appropriate.
• Analyze reports and findings of tests to diagnose patients.
• Prescribe or administer treatment, therapy, medication, vaccination and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness and injury.
• Refer patient to PCP or specialist as appropriate.
• Perform procedures including laceration repair, I & D’s, IV, removal of superficial foreign bodies, splinting and casting, ear irrigations.
• Explain procedures, review and discuss test results and prescribed treatments with patients.
• Document findings and treatment course in patient electronic medical record including follow‑up notes.
• Direct professional and ancillary staff regarding treatment of patients.
• Interact with medical practices and emergency room physicians to create a cooperative atmosphere.
• Maintain up to date knowledge base for medical conditions and injuries that may present to an urgent care setting.
• Assist with training and orientating new provider staff.
• Maintain strictest confidentiality (HIPAA).

• Family Medicine degree from accredited university. Active Maryland Registered Nurse License. Successful completion of Nurse Practitioner program in Family Practice, with Emergency Medicine or Urgent Care Experience
• Certification Family Nurse Practitioner through ANCC or AANP
• State and Federal licensure (Maryland)
• DEA licensure.
• ACLS/PALS certification.

• A minimum of two years clinical experience with pediatric and adult patients preferred.

• Knowledge of medical coding.
• Knowledge of the principles and practice of urgent care medicine.
• Knowledge of the principles and practice of occupational health, DOT exams.

• Competent with common PC applications including Internet, Email and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively;
  Great Bedside manner;
  Team leader.
