Introduction

The MSD nurse is responsible for providing health care for the students and to act as health care liaison between the parents and the school.
This is an 11-month, school year position.
Nurses do not work when school is closed during winter break, spring break, and during the summer months.
The salary range reflects the 11-month work schedule.
This is a 2nd Shift position.
The work schedule is Sundays (4:00 PM - 11:00 PM) and Mondays-Thursday (2:45 PM - 11:00 PM) plus 3 weekends during the school year (one in fall, one in winter and one in spring).

Main Purpose of JobThe MSD nurse is responsible for providing health care for the students and to act as health care liaison between the parents and the school.
POSITION DUTIES- The MSD nurse is responsible for providing health care for the students and to act as health care liaison between the parents and the school.
- This is a 2nd shift position.
- The nurse will be in regular contact with school staff, dorm staff, teachers, teacher aides, students and parents/guardians as well as providers, medical facilities and private duty nurses.
- Administer medications prescribed for medical conditions or injuries.
- Assess, evaluate, and monitor students’ current medical and emotional health status and identify nursing needs of students.
- Maintain accurate and adequate records of nursing care, observations and treatment according to established procedures.
- Maintain the Student Health Center to ensure a safe, operational and compliant environment for patient care.
- Provide auxiliary duties as needed.
- Education:
Determined by the Maryland State Board of Nursing under the licensing requirements for Registered Nurses. - Experience:
None.
- Skilled in American Sign Language.
- Two years experience working with children either in a school or hospital setting.
- Able to work and make decisions independently.
- One year of experience in school, critical care, or community nursing.
- Knowledge or ability to navigate Google Workspace.
- Experience with Power School or another student information system.
