This role is responsible for ensuring all electrical and mechanical work is completed in accordance with contract documents, applicable codes, and industry standards. The inspector will play a key role in quality assurance throughout all phases of construction and help ensure systems are fully prepared for commissioning and turnover.
This is a long‑term contract‑to‑hire opportunity supporting a high‑profile, mission‑critical project.
- Perform routine inspections across four buildings at various stages of construction to ensure work meets quality standards and contract requirements.
- Verify that all installed work complies with project documents, including required testing and follow‑up inspections, and ensure deficiencies are corrected before work progresses or is concealed.
- Review contractor means and methods for compliance with applicable global, national, and local standards; promptly report deficiencies to the owner.
- Evaluate installed mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems to confirm readiness for commissioning and startup.
- Confirm appropriate levels of protection for equipment and systems throughout construction.
- Inspect installation of MEP systems, equipment, and rough‑ins to ensure proper installation and absence of defects or damage.
- Verify required access and clearances for installed components (e.g., valves, access panels, equipment).
- Perform visual inspections of electrical and mechanical rough‑ins to ensure proper installation practices and workmanship.
- Evaluate electrical conduit installations for proper support, organization, and overall quality.
- Conduct SCCS reviews, including breaker settings and arc flash labeling verification.
- Review NETA testing documentation to confirm required electrical testing has been completed.
- Perform Foreign Object Debris (FOD) inspections to maintain clean, safe work environments and protect equipment.
- Support turnover activities, including verifying inspection documentation, tracking observation closure, and preparing deliverables for commissioning teams.
- Participate in final quality walkthroughs with the owner to confirm readiness for commissioning and operations.
- Collaborate with construction and commissioning teams to ensure a smooth transition between project phases.
- 5–10 years of experience in construction inspection, quality control, or construction management with a focus on electrical and mechanical systems.
- Experience with data center construction or other mission‑critical facilities.
- Hands‑on experience inspecting MEP systems, equipment installations, and rough‑ins.
- Proven ability to verify construction work against drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Experience with:
- SCCS reviews (including breaker settings and arc flash labeling)
- NETA testing review for electrical systems
- FOD inspections in active construction environments
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify deficiencies and ensure corrective action.
- OSHA 10 certification (minimum).
- Solid understanding of applicable codes and standards (global, national, and local).
- Ability to prepare clear, accurate inspection reports and turnover documentation.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with owners, contractors, and commissioning teams.
- Ability to work independently on large, complex construction sites.
- Experience in construction management or MEP‑focused roles.
- Experience supporting commissioning and turnover on large‑scale projects.
- Familiarity with data center infrastructure, including critical power and cooling systems.
- Experience working within structured QA/QC programs on complex builds.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple buildings simultaneously.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, schedule‑driven environment.
- Interest in long‑term project opportunities…
