Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine quality control testing throughout the asphalt production process.
  • Monitor plant operations and calibrate equipment to maintain consistent product performance.
  • Accurately document test results, production data, and quality reports.
  • Identify production issues and assist in troubleshooting and implementing corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with safety policies and environmental regulations.
  • Work collaboratively with production and maintenance teams to improve plant efficiency and product consistency.
  • Report quality concerns or variances to management and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in Quality Control or Plant Operations within the asphalt or construction materials industry.
  • Valid Virginia or Maryland Plant Certification (such as MARTCP) required.
  • Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail.

  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Willingness to work day or night shifts, as needed.

Work Environment:

This position is based at an active asphalt production facility and involves both indoor and outdoor work. The environment is physically demanding and may include exposure to extreme temperatures, rain, wind, dust, noise, and asphalt odors. The technician will work around heavy machinery, conveyor systems, and high-temperature materials, requiring strict adherence to safety procedures and PPE guidelines.

Duties may require standing for extended periods, climbing ladders, navigating uneven surfaces, lifting materials or equipment, and performing sampling and testing at elevated areas. The role demands focus and precision in a fast-paced setting, both independently and as part of a team. Overtime, early mornings, evenings, or weekend shifts may be required based on production needs.
