In‑Situ Toxicologist – Edgewood, Maryland
This role supports the U.S. Army with day‑to‑day in‑vitro laboratory tasks and advanced toxicology research.
Responsibilities- Perform in‑vitro laboratory experimental tasks, including tissue culture and the engineering of complex 3D organoid/spheroid/MPS architectures for toxicological assessments.
- Investigate novel biomarkers of exposure, perform advanced morphological characterization, physiological response measurements, phenotypic changes, and molecular pathway elucidation for known and unknown toxicological compounds.
- Plan, execute, and independently manage assigned tasks; adapt methods and instrumentation to resolve problems; organize, analyze, and interpret data; prepare reports and manuscripts; contribute to proposal writing.
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of technical staff and principal investigators.
- Communicate progress and needed tasks clearly with team members; adapt to real‑time experimental changes.
- Minimum master’s degree in biology, chemistry, or a related field.
- Three (3) or more years of research experience in an academic, government, or industry laboratory.
- Advanced laboratory cellular biology and tissue culture techniques, including receptor‑based screens, microphysiological systems, stem cell differentiation, microscopy, and cell staining.
- Independent and collaborative research experience; ability to learn new techniques and expand skill sets.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, effective time management, self‑starter with attention to detail, and strong critical thinking/problem‑solving ability.
- Ability to assist with other duties as assigned and to complete additional training.
- Must obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance; U.S. citizenship required.
- Experience in project task delegation and management.
- Background in in‑vitro neurotoxicology and in‑vitro immunology.
- Salary range: $76,709.46 – $86,064.18 (annualized USD).
