The NIH National Cancer Institute Laboratory of Cell and Development Signaling, under the direction of Dr. Christopher Westlake, is now seeking a postdoctoral fellow.

About the position

Our group integrates cell and developmental biology, biochemistry, biophysics, genetics, and multi-omics to understand how signaling regulation is important in human development and disease and how they relate to ciliopathies and cancer. We want to understand how membrane trafficking organizes and influences cellular organelles and cellular signaling.

As such, the Westlake laboratory provides opportunities to work with a wide range of cutting-edge experimental systems and technologies, including advanced microscopy super-resolution Elyra SIM2 and FIB-SEM. Our research projects leverage diverse model systems, including cultured cells, organoids, zebrafish, mouse, and Xenopus models.

This position also offers a highly collaborative and interdisciplinary training environment within the NIH intramural research program, with access to exceptional scientific resources and core facilities. For additional information on the Westlake Lab, please see here

This position is open to individuals with PhD and/or MD degrees who possess a strong publication record, interpersonal communication skills, and work ethic. The successful applicant will be expected to lead their own project as well as to contribute to collaborative research efforts in the laboratory.

Candidates should have expertise in one of the following areas, including advanced microscopy imaging and analysis (live cell, super resolution and/or volume electron microscopy), high content genetics/drug screening, and/or spatial proteomics. Experience with animal models is also desirable. The position also requires skills in cell biology and standard molecular biology techniques, such as cloning, viral vector application, CRISPR, mutagenesis etc.
