Position Summary:

The Deli Operations Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring top‑notch service and product handling. This position is responsible for receiving products, maintaining aisles, freezers, and refrigerators stocked and organized, and delivering excellent customer service.

Essential Functions:

Ensure exceptional customer service and foster relationships with key clients.

Lead and manage a team of Assistant Deli Managers, Deli Supervisors, and Stockers to keep shelves stocked and organized.

Develop employee schedules, oversee performance, and execute discipline measures when necessary.

Train staff on job responsibilities and safe operational procedures.

Conduct interviews and make hiring recommendations.

Implement disciplinary actions as needed and suggest terminations.

Ensure compliance with HACCP regulations through regular inspections and audits.

Perform daily inventory reviews to prevent losses due to spoilage.

Verify accuracy of shelf pricing in accordance with market conditions.

Supervise the receipt of deli products and ensure proper documentation.

Maintain accurate inventory levels through regular physical counts and necessary adjustments.

Oversee maintenance of refrigerated equipment while adhering to maintenance schedules.

Manage ordering of deli products from vendors for competitive pricing and minimal spoilage.

Ensure all employees are proficient in operating equipment like the Toledo scale and Dennison label machine.

Ensure proper tagging and organization of stored pallets.

Implement and maintain cleanliness standards through scheduled cleaning duties.

Communicate low stock/out of stock information to the Inventory Controller after thorough checks.

Ensure all signage is accurate and promotional flyers are reflected on product displays.

Coordinate logical merchandising of aisles, creating engaging product displays.

Undertake additional duties and projects as assigned.

Conduct weekly self‑audits of the perishable department.

Other Responsibilities:

Complete other work‑related tasks as required.

Education, Experience and

Skills Required:

Bachelor's Degree, OR

High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of 4 years of customer service experience, OR

Any combination of education and experience that qualifies.

Ability to read and interpret business documents and reports.

Strong presentation skills to communicate with management and customers.

Mathematical skill to handle discounts, interest, and inventory calculations.

Effective oral and written communication abilities.

High interpersonal skill level for handling sensitive issues.

Strong commitment to customer service and company values.

Proficient in computer software and systems.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Carry weight (50' or less) - 50 lbs.

Frequent lifting/carrying - 50 lbs.

Constant lifting/carrying - 20 lbs.

Excellent agility and dynamic balance.

High finger and manual dexterity.

Posture tolerance for standing/walking constantly, occasional reaching, twisting, bending, climbing, and kneeling.

Work Environment:

Frequent exposure to cold temperatures.

Work with equipment in motion such as forklifts and electric pallet jacks.
