Responsibilities
This is a part‑time position. Your primary responsibility is to take excellent care of customers by satisfying each customer’s needs and exceeding their expectations. You will prepare, process, package, and stock products according to Fresh Foods Standards, provide customer service, clean work areas, unload stock, and reload salvage products as required.
- Initiate interaction on the sales floor and at the counter, ask questions regarding shopping needs, and provide information needed to meet taste and meal requirements.
- Never be rude to a customer and always be courteous, friendly, helpful, and prompt.
- Follow through on customer requests; if you cannot say "yes", involve department management or manager‑on‑duty.
- Make eye contact with and smile at every customer; speak clearly and enthusiastically.
- Present a clean, neat, and tasteful appearance in line with conservative norms; maintain grooming standards.
- Be reliable and punctual; report to work on time and notify supervisor or manager‑on‑duty at least 2 hours in advance if you will be late.
- Neatly decorate cakes and bakery items and create party trays per standards and specifications.
- Bake, fry, broil, roast meats and other products following standards.
- Prepare, weigh, price, date, wrap, and package products; operate equipment to portion products to standard.
- Communicate in English with customers and associates about requests, promotions, campaigns, and essential products.
- Answer telephones with a professional greeting and provide requested information.
- Sell only fresh products and follow product‑preparation, merchandising, rotation, dating, and markdown guidelines.
- Ensure all Fresh Foods products are properly refrigerated; check temperatures of product, cases, and coolers.
- Keep shelves stocked and blocked to maximize sales; work back‑stock regularly; process close‑dated and damaged product per standards.
- Check merchandising displays and prepare daily samples per standards.
- Inform management of absent items, incorrect prices, missing signs, or departmental changes.
- Unload product from truck, place in coolers according to receiving and rotation standards, and load salvage when required.
- Maintain store cleanliness by cleaning prep rooms, coolers, counters, food contact surfaces, appliances, floors, garbage, and displays.
- Perform repetitive tasks such as sweeping, cleaning, blocking, tightening, and emptying trash when business is light.
- Understand operations of the Fresh Foods Department, complete paperwork accurately, and maintain proper records.
- Follow safety regulations, report accidents and hazards, and complete logs.
- Handle chemicals in accordance with the Hazard Communication Program Manual.
- Adapt to changing priorities; perform multiple tasks with flexibility and initiative.
- Assist fellow associates with unloading trucks, checking deliveries, taking inventory, restocking, and organizing displays.
- Establish a trustworthy, respectful, and integrity‑based working environment.
- Be a team player, support colleagues, and be open to new ideas and recommendations from management.
- Comply with company standards, policies, and procedures, and perform essential job functions throughout scheduled hours.
Associates must be at least 18 years old.

Skills:
Exceptional interpersonal skills; willingness to participate in required training and to work with a team to increase customer satisfaction and sales. - Education and Experience: High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or one‑to‑three months related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions and correspondence in English. - Mathematical
Skills:
Ability to add and subtract two‑digit numbers and perform operations in American units of money and weight. - Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense to written or oral instructions and solve problems with few concrete variables.
