Overview
SALES ASSOCIATE (MINIMART) – Maryland location. The sales associate is the face of the store, highlighting the brand and helping customers understand our products and services. The role requires learning about offerings and communicating their value in a professional, educational way while delivering excellent customer service.
Responsibilities- CUSTOMER SERVICE
- Proactively engage with customers and build connections.
- Ask questions and listen to customer needs.
- Direct customers to merchandise and inform them about events, promotions, mobile offers, and STAR card programs.
- Provide premier customer service and foster positive, inclusive relationships; take accountability for actions and outcomes.
- ORGANIZATION
- Maintain store appearance.
- SALES
- Cross-sell products and know the store layout.
- Suggest products based on customer needs and current promotions; upsell where appropriate.
- Learn product features and stay current with trends; use company tools to provide product knowledge and specifications.
- Use a Point-of-Sales system and handle transactions (cash, discounts, gift cards, credit/debit cards); ensure accurate cash handling.
- Complete various forms of paperwork, reports, and reconciliation as required.
- INVENTORY
- Keep merchandise organized; perform inventory processes and ensure items are checked in and accurately ticketed.
- Participate in periodic inventories as needed.
- DEPENDABILITY
- Adhere to assigned work schedules with accurate and complete follow-through on assignments.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- PRODUCT KNOWLEDGE
- Basic knowledge of products/merchandise.
- EXPERIENCE
- Retail experience is preferred but not required.
- COMMUNICATION SKILLS
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to read, write, and interpret instructional documents such as safety rules and operating/maintenance instructions. Communicate effectively with customers, peers, and management. Telephone etiquette when speaking with customers.
- MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
- Basic math functions: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- REASONING ABILITY
- Ability to multi-task, stay attentive to customers, and adapt to business needs. Ability to work as part of a team and take initiative with limited supervision.
- Education:
High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
This position involves constant moving, talking, hearing, reaching, grabbing, and standing for extended periods. May involve stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders. Vision requirements include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Involves lifting 25 to 50 lbs in some departments. Work is typically indoors but may occur outdoors depending on location.
