Account Manager – Aberdeen Proving Ground
Leidos is seeking an Account Manager (AM) to lead customer engagement and business development activities for Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG), based on-site at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. This high‑visibility role is part of the Defense Sector Growth Organization and serves as Leidos’ primary face to one of the Army’s most critical research, development, and acquisition hubs.
THE MISSION
The APG Account Manager deepens Leidos’ presence, relationships, and pipeline at one of the Army’s strategically important installations. APG houses a broad portfolio of Army commands aligned with Leidos’ core capabilities—from C2 and Cyber to AI/ML, ISR, and Electronic Warfare. The role serves as the connective tissue between Leidos business areas and the APG customer community, ensuring Leidos is positioned competitively on every meaningful opportunity.
THE CHALLENGE
- Serve as Leidos’ primary relationship owner and business development lead for APG, including all APG-based Army commands, program executive offices, and subordinate organizations.
- Develop, maintain, and grow a qualified opportunity pipeline across multiple Leidos sectors with a primary focus on Defense, Digital Modernization, and Intelligence.
- Lead APG customer engagement planning, including development, coordination, and execution of account plans and call plans; provide detailed follow‑up reporting on all engagement activities.
- Proactively identify new business opportunities through market research, customer engagement, competitive analysis, and stakeholder network development.
- Perform market research to qualify new opportunities, including analysis of customer budget, required capabilities, customer preferences, competitive environment, and incumbent strengths and weaknesses.
- Coordinate meetings with customers, competitors, clients, and teammates to develop market insight on requirements, acquisition strategy, acquisition timing, and contract vehicle choices.
- Develop, organize, and execute capture activities including building Leidos and industry teams, assessing win probability, and executing customer call plans to shape acquisitions.
- Collaborate with Sector and Business Area BD leads, Strategic Account Executives, and line managers to build consensus on specific business pursuits and align to Leidos strategic objectives.
- Participate in pipeline reviews, bid agenda development, opportunity gate reviews, black‑hat sessions, win theme and discriminator workshops, and proposal reviews as needed.
- Brief capture status to senior management at specified milestones; conduct after‑action reviews to document lessons learned and continuously improve BD approach.
- Actively participate in APG and regional professional associations, community organizations, industry forums, and customer‑sponsored events to build Leidos’ local brand and expand the business network.
- Interact with all levels of customer organizations and Leidos management, demonstrating sound judgment, high professionalism, and a commitment to Leidos values.
WHAT SETS YOU APART
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with 15+ years of Leidos‑aligned business and/or mission experience; advanced degree a plus.
- Intimate organizational and mission knowledge of key APG‑based commands, including Army Contracting Command (ACC) APG;
Communications‑Electronics Command (CECOM) and subordinate organizations;
Combat Capabilities Development Command (DEVCOM) and subordinate organizations;
Program Executive Office Command, Control, Communications‑Tactical (PEO C3T); and Army Cyber Command (ARCYBER). - Proven track record of successful customer engagement, business development, and capture management across multiple APG‑based customer organizations and mission areas.
- Prior direct experience working with APG‑assigned military and government civilian personnel in a government or industry capacity.
- Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following mission areas aligned to the APG customer base:
