Environmental Specialist

Triumvirate Environmental, one of the largest environmental services firms in North America, is seeking an Environmental Specialist for our Lab & Onsite Support Services (Lab/OSS) team. As an Environmental Specialist, you will support our clients on-site by managing their hazardous waste programs and projects, utilizing state and federal regulations.

This position reports to the Director of On-site Support Services. The role is based on site at client locations in the Frederick & Rockville, MD area.

Responsibilities
  • Develop an understanding of OSHA regulations and Triumvirate’s Health and Safety practices
  • Prepare chemical and biological waste for shipment and disposal, including creation of all federal/state waste documents and managing the paperwork for the material
  • Safely handle hazardous waste containers on client sites, including loading/unloading of waste from vehicles
  • Conduct safety equipment and hazardous waste inspections
  • Occasionally perform and document Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) audits for clients
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by providing outstanding support and innovative solutions to clients
  • Develop high-level state and federal regulatory expertise ensuring client compliance with RCRA, DOT, OSHA, etc.
  • Conduct spill response measures, including assessment and cleanup efforts
  • Participate in rotating on‑call responsibilities as part of the Emergency Response team
Basic Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in hazardous‑waste industry or relevant military experience
  • Ability to work as a member of a team and individually
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities to interact with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders
  • Ability to analyze complex issues, develop solutions, and implement strategies for positive outcomes
  • Skill in building strong, positive relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Ability to work overtime regularly and flexible hours Monday through Friday
  • Ability to complete a 2‑ to 3‑year professional advancement program in hazardous waste management
  • Hands‑on work with hazardous chemicals and biological waste; role is safety‑sensitive
  • Willingness to report to office within 1 hour during Emergency Response shifts
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Willingness to consent to motor vehicle record screening, criminal background check, pre‑employment physical and drug screen (including THC)
  • Eligibility to work in the United States without future sponsorship
  • Ability to lift 60 pounds on a regular basis
Preferred Requirements
  • Prior relevant industry experience
  • Prior experience in a customer service role
  • Active HAZWOPER 24 or 40‑hour certification
  • Willingness to obtain Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
