Non-exempt (compensatory and/or overtime eligible; additional compensation to include uniforms, steel toed boots, PPE, tools and in house laundry service); full-time; 40 hours per week;
Monday – Friday; 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.; full-benefits
This position will assist in the operation, repair, and maintenance of the sewage collection systems. Supervision is received from the Utility Systems Maintenance Technician IV, the Collection Systems Maintenance Supervisor, Assistant Superintendent and/or the Superintendent, Maintenance.
NOTE:
The upper pay range reflects possible wage rates for internal County transfers and promotions, which are calculated per County policy. For external hires, offers are made at the base wage rate.

- Perform preventive maintenance on the collection system including restoring pipe capacity by removing debris, grit, and grease from the sewer mains and laterals
- Perform corrective maintenance on the collection system including repairing and restoring service
- Repair broken lines
- Locate underground cable and utilities
- Excavate with backhoe and excavator
- Handle reactive maintenance such as service calls
- Receive and/or review various records and reports such as safety training, service calls, and maintenance tasks and/or work orders
- Prepare and/or process various records and reports such as service request calls, vehicle pre-trip log sheet, and maintenance tasks/work orders
- Operate a variety of vehicles, equipment, and machinery such as sewer jetter, vac-truck, CCTV truck, dump truck, excavator, etc.
- Interact and communicate with various groups, individuals, customers, and members of the public
- Perform maintenance, equipment repairs or replacements, and new installations as needed
- Maintain the sewer collection system, using hand tools and excavation equipment during repair of underground sewers
- Perform cleaning and repair activities in confined and/or hazardous environment such as manholes, wet wells, and tanks
- Operate sewer line television inspection equipment, including push-operated and remote operated cameras
- Respond to emergency calls as needed
- Perform other duties as required
