Responsible for the complete and satisfactory installation of residential and/or light commercial HVAC equipment and accessories. Communicates with customers to answer questions, resolves problems, and ensures complete customer satisfaction. Promotes products and services to customers, trains other installers, performs install work on more difficult situations, and assists the Field Supervisor or General Manager on work audits, site supervision, and planning. Works under the direction of the Field Supervisor or General Manager.
Key Responsibilities- Install HVAC equipment and accessories in the customer’s home under direction of the Field Supervisor or General Manager.
- Install heating, air conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration equipment and accessories, following company and manufacturer specifications, and perform limited diagnostics as needed.
- Design, fabricate, and install ductwork and fittings as required.
- Perform start‑ups on air conditioning and heating systems and other components.
- Deliver excellent customer service and maintain high satisfaction levels.
- Promote products and services; report replacement product sales leads to the Sales and Service Coordinator.
- Handle delivery and removal of equipment necessary for completion of installations.
- Ensure company property, vehicles, and tools are properly used, maintained, and accounted for.
- Complete all paperwork accurately and promptly; collect payments from customers.
- Represent the company professionally, honestly, and ethically.
- Maintain installation vehicle cleanliness to reflect the company’s image.
- Follow standard procedures; keep vehicle stocked, return defective warranty parts, and replenish as needed.
- Assist the Field Supervisor or General Manager with site supervision, planning, and estimating.
- Assist with quality audits of selected installations.
- Train other installers in technical skills and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED plus additional HVAC technical training; 2+ years of experience.
- Valid licensing or certification required by federal, state, provincial, or local laws.
- EPA and safety certifications required.
- Proficient in operating heating, air conditioning, and ventilation equipment and accessories.
- Advanced installation skills for heating, air conditioning, and ventilation systems.
- Proficient in ductwork layout and installation requirements.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and use of necessary tools and equipment.
- Advanced troubleshooting of wiring diagrams, electrical, refrigerant, and duct systems.
- Ability to start up, balance airflow, and align belts and pulleys with minimal supervision.
- Advanced skills installing electronic air cleaners, refrigeration systems, hot water systems, steam boiler systems, humidifiers, and related equipment.
- Ability to calculate heat gain and loss using approved methods.
- Effective communication skills with customers.
- Effective time‑management and organizational skills.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Availability for flexible hours and on‑call shifts.
- Physical capability to stand, walk, climb ladders and stairs, maneuver in attics, basements, and crawl spaces, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Ability to work in hot, cold, indoor, outdoor, and other challenging environments.
- Ability to safely handle 300‑lb load ladders with a 30‑lb tool belt.
- Vision adequate for close, distance, and peripheral tasks.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
