Position: Plumber (Skilled Trade Specialist III)

Position Overview

Skilled Trade Specialist III Plumber – Office of Facilities Maintenance, Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI Marshall Airport). This journey level position requires licensed plumbers to inspect, approve, and carry out full range plumbing installation and repair work, including Work with outside contractors and in-house staff.

Responsibilities
  • Inspect and approve plumbing work performed by contractors or in-house non‑licensed staff.
  • Execute full plumbing installation, repair, and maintenance tasks as required.
  • Perform the same work as crew members when needed.
  • Operate motor vehicles and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license.
  • Obtain and retain a Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) as required during probationary period.
  • Maintain an Airfield Operators Permit and comply with all Maryland Aviation Administration training and certification programs.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) or higher.
  • Four years of plumbing experience.
  • Current Maryland Journey Level plumber license (or higher).
  • Year‑for‑year substitution of plumbing trade experience for education or vocational‑technical training where applicable.
  • Military service experience in utilities repair or related skilled trade may be substituted on a year‑for‑year basis for required experience.
Special Requirements
  • Extensive pre‑employment security background check required.
  • Willingness to work day, night, weekends, holidays, and be available for call‑back duties at any hour.
  • Must maintain reliable communication link for emergency call‑back requirements.
  • Must pass hazardous material exposure training and be fitted with a respirator when required.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform maintenance work on high structures and in cramped quarters.
  • Must sign and comply with all Essential Employee policies and procedures.
  • Commitment to comply with substance abuse testing in accordance with Maryland regulations.
