Baltimore County. Position: ITS Technician I. Open to anyone who meets minimum qualifications.

Provide support to the SOC CHART Program and statewide Intelligent Transportation System (ITS), fiber, and radio communication systems. Technical expertise in troubleshooting, repairs, maintenance, and procurement for voice, data, RF communications; wireless systems design, integration, installation, and maintenance; digital and fiber optic transmissions; communications software applications, diagnostic and programming software; ITS devices such as speed detectors, highway advisory radios, CCTV traffic cameras, dynamic message signs, weather stations, lane control signals, etc.

Work on highway sides, exposed to traffic, and is essential and subject to 24/7/365 emergency call‑out.

High school graduation or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

One year of experience repairing electronic communication equipment, or equivalent through:

• Completion of a one‑year program in radio electronics at a recognized training school, trade school, or college.
• Possession of a Federal Communications Commission (FCC) General Radiotelephone Operator’s License (list license number and date of issuance on the application).

• Valid Maryland motor vehicle operator’s license.
• Must possess or obtain a Class B Maryland Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or a comparable out‑of‑state CDL within 12 months of employment.

• Essential employee – must sign policies relating to essential employee status.
• 24‑hour call‑in required; must provide a reachable telephone number.
• Must be able to climb to elevated locations for electronic work on high structures.
• Subject to substance abuse testing per Maryland Transportation Code regulations.
• Pre‑employment drug testing required.
