Job DescriptionUnder general supervision performs operation, testing, evaluation, analysis, maintenance and repairs of electrical utility distribution systems, energy conservation systems, and other critical building systems and components to assure the availability, reliability and continuity of facilities operations and services. May lead and train others in the completion of this work.
ResponsibilitiesHigh School Diploma or GED; six years in related work.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Comprehensive knowledge of high voltage electricity principles and reliability‑centered maintenance practices.
- Thorough knowledge of OSHA regulations related to the electrical trades, National Electric Code and required mathematics for recording, analyzing and reporting on systems condition.
- Skills in installation, repair and maintenance of critical building equipment, use of thermographic imaging and other test and analysis tools, and in the use of computers and related software to analyze and diagnose utilities system problems.
- Ability to read and explain manufacturer recommendations, technical specifications, drawings and reports; communicate effectively orally and in writing; provide direction and training to maintenance personnel.
- Ability to work in various environments, at heights up to 35feet, with heavy equipment, in confined spaces, and adverse weather or temperature conditions, while wearing personal protective equipment.
Candidates may be subject to medical inquiries and/or examinations. Valid Maryland Non‑commercial ClassC or equivalent driver’s license may be required. Possession of a Maryland State certification as a licensed maintenance electrician (or equivalent) is required. Employees must report to work or remain on campus during inclement weather and other emergencies.
