We are searching for a skilled and motivated EV Charging Field Service Technician
. This key role is responsible for the onsite repair and maintenance of EV charging stations in a specific geographic region, including site safety, electrical system maintenance/repair, site field reports, and other duties as required to properly maintain and operate the site within the contractual requirements. This role must be able to work independently with little to no supervision and will be required to work in the field under various conditions.
Responsibilities
- Perform OEM testing, troubleshooting, repairs, and upgrades/revisions to a broad range of equipment, from Level 2 Electric Vehicle (EV) chargers to DC Fast Chargers.
- Conduct testing on equipment, including insulation testing (megger), thermal imagery, torque tests, and performance evaluations.
- Troubleshoot system performance issues and locate/isolate ground faults.
- Coordinate with the Planning and Scheduling team to ensure maintenance schedules are adhered to and work orders are completed accurately and on time.
- Review site manuals and drawings to ensure proper service and maintenance of equipment.
- Perform electrical and mechanical preventative and corrective maintenance of site equipment, report in the field, and complete work orders.
- Document all site issues in the work order system and ensure they are addressed in a timely manner.
- 2+ years of experience servicing electrical power equipment in a commercial or utility energy setting and/or formal electrical training.
- Strong electrical, electronic, and mechanical troubleshooting skills. Technical knowledge of EV chargers, solar power installations, or other applicable power electronics is preferred but not required.
- Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to generate, track, and complete site work requirements.
- Ability to analyze and resolve problems independently with a high level of results orientation.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English to safely perform job duties, interpret technical instructions, and communicate effectively with team members and customers.
- Willingness to work in all weather conditions depending on job location, time of year, heat, cold, rain, and snow.
- Comfortable working around high voltages and currents.
- Commitment to wearing personal protective equipment (PPE), including a hard hat and safety glasses.
- Able to handle repetitive use of legs, arms, hands, and fingers.
- Conduct site safety assessments and generate needed documentation such as JHA and Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) per OSHA and site‑specific requirements.
Pay Range: $23.00–$40.00 hourly / DOE.
Actual compensation is influenced by skill set, level of experience, and location.
