The Diesel Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance and repair of diesel‑powered vehicles and equipment.

• Repair and replace damaged or worn parts
• Operate and inspect heavy equipment to diagnose defects
• Test mechanical products and equipment to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturer’s specifications
• Diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs using engine diagnostic such as computerized test equipment and calibration devices
• Dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools
• Clean, lubricate and perform routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles
• Schedule maintenance for industrial machines and equipment and keep equipment service records
• Read and interpret manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings
• Analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems
• Stay abreast of new technology and methodology through on‑the‑job training and technical school
• Use the appropriate tools for the required tasks
• Perform other job‑related tasks as assigned by supervisor

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 5 years’ experience servicing heavy industrial equipment such as excavators, backhoes, skid loaders, and tractors
• Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance
• Strong customer service skills
• Ability to read, write and speak English

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. This job may require work in areas where ear and / or eye protection is necessary.
