Maintenance Technician I
Non-exempt (compensatory and/or overtime eligible); full-time; 40 hours per week;
Monday – Friday; 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.; full-benefits
This entry-level technical position supports the maintenance, installation, and renovation of building systems and equipment across County facilities. The Maintenance Technician I performs routine maintenance and repair tasks using established procedures and assists with basic HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or renovation work in accordance with plans and specifications. Work at this level involves following prescribed work orders, detailed instructions, and safety practices while using a variety of tools, equipment, and machinery in both indoor and outdoor environments.
Positions at this level focus on one type of system or have very basic knowledge and ability to work across multiple systems. The position applies developing trade knowledge to complete assigned tasks, with decisions limited to task-level problem solving and issues escalated as needed. Work is performed under close supervision and is reviewed for accuracy and completeness; no supervisory responsibilities are assigned.
Supervision is received from the Maintenance Technician Supervisor.

Essential Duties AndJob Responsibilities
- Assist with routine maintenance and repair tasks to include carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and HVACR related to both interior and exterior maintenance renovation and repair
- Perform general laborer tasks
- Assist with maintain on building systems and equipment using established procedures and under close supervision
- Support renovation projects by participating in demolition and reconstruction activities, including the removal of outdated equipment, fixtures, and structural elements
- Operate and maintain a variety of hand tools, power tools, and equipment to complete assigned maintenance and construction tasks
- Follow prescribed work orders, blueprints, and specifications to complete assigned tasks accurately and efficiently
- Assist with transporting, positioning, and installing equipment using lifts, hoists, and other machinery as required
- Clean, organize and maintain equipment
- Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to established safety practices, identifying hazards, and properly using personal protective equipment
