Position: Materials Handler (Forklift Operator/Motor Vehicle Operator).

Duties

  • Receives, unloads, and processes incoming shipments of bulk and bin materials and equipment.
  • Reports overages, shortages, or damaged items in accordance with established procedures.
  • Unpacks and breaks-down shipments as required and stocks in designated areas.
  • Conducts warehouse inventories which includes maintaining tally lists during counting operations.
  • Operates government vehicles from 1.5 to 5 ton capacity to pick-up and deliver supplies and equipment.
  • Operates electric, gasoline, or diesel powered forklift truck in order to lift loads weighing under 10,000 pounds.
Requirements Conditions of Employment
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent must obtain and maintain a National Agency Check with Inquiries (Tier
    1).
  • Incumbent will be required to pass and maintain forklift operator certification within 6 months of employment.
  • Incumbent is subject to a medical clearance examination prior to employment. This position may require an annual physical or medical surveillance examination.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 40 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • Incumbent is responsible for receiving, storing, moving, labeling (including dating) and segregating any hazardous materiel being received and/or shipped out of the Central Receiving Point (CRP).
  • Incumbent must successfully complete and initial program of classroom or on-the-job training covering hazardous material handling as well as an annual renewal training.
  • This position requires the employee drive a motor vehicle and successfully pass an Army approved defensive driving certification course.
  • An appropriate, valid driver's license is required and must be maintained for the position.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 11. While probationary, the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
