Position Summary
The Maryland Department of Labor – Veterans Program seeks a Disabled Veterans Outreach Program / Local Veterans Employment Representative to assist veterans and veteran spouses with qualifying employment barriers (QEB) at the American Job Center. The role involves case management, employer outreach, and advocacy for veteran employment opportunities within the community.
Position Duties- Engage with state and local business services entities and employers to promote veteran employment.
- Provide intensive services to eligible veterans and spouses, helping them obtain or retain employment.
- Assess job seeker skills and needs using the automated system and update customer registration.
- Identify potential job matches for job seekers.
- Refer qualified job seekers to openings and share labor‑market information.
- Conduct employer outreach via phone, email, and site visits.
- Disseminate labor‑market information to businesses and promote agency services, job fairs, and training programs.
- Promote credentialing and licensing opportunities for veterans.
- High‑school graduation or equivalency certificate.
- One year of case‑management experience in workforce development for targeted populations.
- College education can substitute for required experience at a rate of thirty credit hours per year.
- Eligible U.S. military service as a non‑commissioned officer with relevant recruiting or counseling experience can substitute for required education and experience.
- Qualified service‑connected disabled veteran, or qualified eligible veteran, or qualified eligible person under 38 U.S.C. 4101(5).
- One year of outreach experience to veterans.
- Six months of professional resume writing and reviewing experience.
- Prior case‑management experience.
