Position DutiesVolunteer Activities Coordinator III develops and plans a comprehensive volunteer services program in a state facility. The incumbent directs and supervises volunteer activities, educates the community on volunteer programs, and may lead support staff, students, and volunteers.
The Duties Include, But Are Not Limited ToPlanning & Directing Volunteer Programs
- Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers, interns, staff, and volunteer visitors entering the facilities, including background checks, interviews, paperwork, orientation, and security.
- Recruit and coordinate student interns, maintaining contact between agencies and college liaisons.
- Provide recommendations for volunteer directives and processes and develop volunteer handouts.
- Serve as point of contact for volunteers’ complaints, issues, and inquiries.
Related Administrative Duties
- Handle special administrative assignments, applying knowledge of regulations, policies, and program goals.
- Serve on committees to design evaluative tools, review policies, or develop initiatives using sound management and industry practices.
- Prepare periodic performance evaluations of volunteers.
- Write reports, correspondence, newsletters, and other documents regarding volunteer programs.
Applicants must meet all minimum qualifications.
Minimum experience:
seven years of planning, coordinating, and evaluating volunteer activities in a state facility, institution, or community‑based program.
- Substitute a bachelor’s degree with 30 credit hours in social sciences, journalism, public relations or a related field, plus three years of specific experience.
- Substitute graduate‑level education with 30 credit hours per year for up to six years of experience.
- Possession of a valid Maryland motor vehicle operator’s license if required to operate a vehicle.
- Completion and maintenance of CPR certification if required.
Provide a telephone number for the facility.
Selection ProcessSubmit all required information before the closing date. Successful candidates will be placed on the eligible employment list for at least one year.
Examination ProcessAssessment may include rating of education, training, and experience related to the position. Provide complete and accurate information.
