Position Summary
The Welcome Center Student Worker supports the strategic and daily operations of the Welcome Center by serving as the front‑line customer service provider, answering questions through various communication methods. The position aids all Welcome Center activities, including giving directions and answering the College’s phones, and assists, guides, and responds to student needs throughout the visit. It supports enrollment, retention, and completion initiatives of the College, directing students to the enrollment coaches.
The student worker demonstrates sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and racial/ethnic backgrounds of community college students and may use varying styles that reflect the role of culture in a diverse multicultural workplace.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Provide excellent front‑line customer service and answer questions through various forms of communication, including face‑to‑face, telephone, email, text, and chat.
- Navigate through and adapt to multiple software tools to manage customer flow and track interactions.
- Apply customer service skills, including active listening, critical thinking, multi‑tasking, and the ability to respond appropriately to diverse groups of people in various situations.
- Resolve issues and instruct students through various self‑service systems, including People Soft, myFCC, and Blackboard.
- Assist with researching resources, collecting data, communicating with appropriate departments, reviewing documents and forms, ensuring all required information is included, and sharing with students regarding missing information through call campaigns.
- Articulate policies, procedures, and regulations for students, visitors, and the public.
- Prepare completed documents for scanning, scan and link documents.
- Maintain data confidentiality and integrity, and ensure compliance with FERPA.
- Administer Photo and parking passes to current students.
- Work on special projects from departments if needed.
- Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must be a student who is term activated and enrolled or previously enrolled at FCC.
- Ability to converse in another language other than English (Spanish preferred).
- Experience working at a higher education institution.
- Experience using document imaging software.
- Experience using a student information system.
Between 8:30‑6:00 Monday to Thursday and Friday 8:30‑4:30. This is a part‑time job, and student hours may vary.
