LOCATION OF POSITION

POSITION DUTIES

The main purpose of this position is to provide substance abuse assessment and/or placement consultation to selected offenders under the jurisdiction of the Division of Parole and Probation.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Applicants must meet all minimum qualifications and license requirements to be considered.
  • Education:

    Determined by the Maryland State Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists under the requirements for Certified Associate Counselors Supervisor – Alcohol and Drug.
  • Experience:

    Determined by the Maryland State Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists under the requirements for Certified Associate Counselors Supervisor – Alcohol and Drug.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
  • Must be certified by the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists as a Certified Professional Counselor – Alcohol and Drug (Health Occupations Title 17 and Code of Maryland Regulations 10.58.07).
  • May be assigned duties that require operation of a motor vehicle; a valid motor vehicle operator's license in Maryland is required.
Special Requirements
  • The candidate must be fluent in spoken and written English and effectively communicate with diverse populations.
  • Professional working fluency in Spanish, Mandarin, Korean, or any other language is a plus.
  • Must possess graded courses in management and supervision as defined by the ADAA; training must be approved by ADAA. Inquiries should be addressed to the Office of Education and Training for Addiction Services.
  • Employees are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09.
Selection Process

Examination Process

The assessment may include a rating of your education, training, and experience related to the position. Submit all relevant experience and education.

Benefits

  • Personal Leave – six personnel days annually (prorated based on start date)
  • Annual Leave – ten days per year
  • Sick Leave – fifteen days per year
  • Parental Leave – up to sixty days paid upon birth or adoption

  • Pension – credit towards retirement pension

Additional benefits may include release time for job‑related CEU training, reimbursement for licensure or certification costs, and tuition reimbursement through the Federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.
