Overview

Position Title: Lead Full Stack Software Engineer (Java / Angular)

Location: Fort Detrick, MD (Hybrid – Onsite 3 days/week, Mondays & Fridays are remote days)

Clearance Requirements: U.S. Citizenship required | Ability to obtain a Secret clearance

Position Status: Contract (Long-Term, 3+ years)

Pay Rate: Competitive (commensurate with experience)

Description:

We are seeking a Lead Full Stack Software Engineer to support a mission-critical federal program based in Fort Detrick, Maryland. This role is ideal for a senior engineer who enjoys working across the full application stack, contributing hands-on code while collaborating within an Agile environment to deliver secure, scalable, and user-focused solutions. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and enhance enterprise applications, ensuring alignment with cybersecurity standards, accessibility (508), and modern software engineering best practices.

This position offers a hybrid work model, with onsite collaboration three days per week and expanded telework flexibility for high-performing candidates.

Responsibilities
  • Participate actively in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog grooming, and story sizing
  • Design, develop, and maintain full stack applications using Java and modern front-end frameworks
  • Implement and consume RESTful APIs supporting enterprise-scale systems
  • Ensure code adheres to cybersecurity, design, accessibility (508), and style standards
  • Produce clear technical documentation including design artifacts, unit tests, and code reviews
  • Support product evaluations and contribute to continuous improvement of application features
  • Collaborate with engineers, stakeholders, and product teams to deliver high-quality solutions
Required Skills & Education
  • U.S. citizenship and eligibility to obtain a Secret clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Systems, or Computer Science from an ABET accredited or CAE designated institution. If the candidate does not have the required degree, 6 year’s experience in a related field in addition to one of the following current certifications are required:
    Cloud+, GICSP, SSCP, Security+, GSEC, FITSP-O, GFACT, CASP+, CCNP Security, or CCSP
  • Additional 4 years of experience with Full Stack Development, implementing and consuming RESTful APIs
  • At least 2 years experience working on an Agile team and following Agile processes SCRUM and/or Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
  • Solid Java 11+ skills and experience with EAP’s (JBoss/Wildfly) and/or Spring Boot
  • Experience in building front-end application using Angular and Java Script
  • Experience using relational and/or No

    SQL database systems
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience developing enterprise-scale applications
  • Knowledge of Java EE design patterns and modern application architectures
  • Familiarity with Angular/JavaScript design patterns
  • Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS
  • Scripting experience with Bash or Power Shell
  • Python 3+ development experience
  • Experience designing or supporting microservices architectures
