Description
This position is a Software Engineer in Lockheed Martin’s External Referral Program. The role focuses on developing, maintaining, and enhancing complex software systems, including processing-intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, and real‑time systems.
Responsibilities- Develop, maintain, and enhance software systems based on documented requirements.
- Work individually or as part of a team.
- Review and test software components to ensure adherence to design requirements; document test results.
- Resolve software problem reports and improve software reliability.
- Apply software development and design methodologies appropriate to the environment.
- Provide input on system design, including hardware/software trade‑offs, software reuse, and use of COTS/GOTS.
- Analyze requirements and synthesize them from system level to individual software components.
- Current DoD Top Secret SCI with Polygraph.
- High School Diploma or GED plus four (4) years of general software engineering experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university.
- Analyze & Define Requirements – Gather user needs and translate them into software design and performance specifications.
- Design & Develop Software – Create new software components or enhance existing ones.
- Algorithm & Performance Engineering – Design or implement algorithms meeting system performance and functional standards.
- Integration & Deployment – Incorporate existing software into new or modified systems and operating environments.
- Data Management & Query Development – Design and build complex database or data‑repository interfaces; write simple data queries.
- Debugging & Maintenance – Identify defects, debug code, apply corrective fixes; modify software to resolve errors.
- Testing & Validation – Assist in creating and executing test procedures; document results and ensure compliance.
- Documentation & Process Improvement – Write or review documentation; recommend enhancements to standards and processes.
- Lead project teams at the appropriate development methodology level.
- Work closely with users, system engineers, and stakeholders to analyze system flow, data usage, and work processes.

Pay range: $86,100 – $151,800 (California, Massachusetts, New York, Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington, Washington DC). New states reflect the final work location.
