Job Summary
The Software Engineer develops, maintains, and enhances complex and diverse software systems (e.g., processing‑intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, manipulation of extremely large data sets, real‑time systems, and business management information systems) based upon documented requirements. Works individually or as part of a team. Reviews and tests software components for adherence to the design requirements and documents test results. Resolves software problem reports and utilizes software development and design methodologies appropriate to the development environment.
Provides input to the software components of system design to include hardware/software trade‑offs, software reuse, use of Commercial Off‑the‑shelf (COTS)/Government Off‑the‑shelf (GOTS) instead of new development, and requirements analysis and synthesis from system level to individual software components.
- Active TS/SCI with polygraph security clearance (U.S. government issued)
- U.S. citizenship required
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline or equivalent experience (four years of related experience may substitute for the degree)
- Minimum two years of software engineering experience; four years of additional experience on similar projects may substitute for a degree
- Experience analyzing user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements
- Debugging existing software and correcting defects
- Providing recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standards
- Designing, coding, or modifying software to add new features
- Integrating existing software into new or modified systems or operating environments
- Developing simple data queries for existing or proposed databases or repositories
The salary associated with this position ($77,000 – $163,000) is commensurate with the selected candidate’s qualifications, years of relevant experience, and demonstrated level of expertise. Compensation will be determined based on these factors to ensure alignment with skills, responsibilities, and market standards.
