Cloud Software Engineer

Annapolis Junction, Maryland, United States (on-site)

GRVTY is seeking a Cloud Software Engineer with a TS/SCI + Poly clearance to join our top project in Annapolis Junction, MD. The Cloud Software Engineer develops, maintains, and enhances complex Big‑Data Cloud systems based on documented requirements. Responsibilities include back‑end processing, data analysis, indexing, and providing expertise in Cloud Computing, Hadoop, Java, distributed computing, information retrieval and object‑oriented design. The role requires reviewing and testing software components for design adherence, documenting test results, resolving software problems, and contributing to system design decisions such as hardware/software trade‑offs and COTS/GOTS integration.

• Active TS/SCI with Polygraph Clearance
• Experience with at least a subset of the following:
  Dev Ops, Elastic Search, NiFi, Python, Java/Spring Boot, Angular
• Eight (8) years of software engineering experience in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity; two (2) years of which must be in programs utilizing Big‑Data Cloud technologies and/or distributed computing.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline or equivalent experience (four (4) years of cloud software engineering experience on similar projects may substitute). Master’s degree may substitute for two (2) years of experience.
• Cloudera Certified Hadoop Developer certification may substitute for one (1) year of cloud experience.
• Two (2) years of Cloud and Distributed Computing Information Retrieval (IR).
• One (1) year of experience implementing code that interacts with Cloud Big Table, Cloud Distributed File System, and complex Map Reduce analytics.
• Experience with Cloud Distributed Coordination Frameworks, computer network operations (utility computing, network management, virtualization), information assurance (firewalls, PKI, server authentication), and information technology (object‑oriented design, Java, RESTful web services).
• Proficiency with YARN, J2EE, Map Reduce, Zookeeper, HDFS, HBase, JMS, concurrent programming, multi‑node implementation, and related technologies.
• Experience ingesting, parsing, and analyzing disparate data sources and formats (XML, JSON, CSV, Avro).
• Experience with SIGINT collection disciplines and other SIGINT‑related areas.
• Configuration management experience using tools such as Subversion, Clear Quest, or Razor.

• In‑depth knowledge of information retrieval to assist the software team in design and testing of Cloud IR.
• Experience implementing complex workflows managing Cloud Map Reduce analytics.
• Experience overseeing software development tasks and ensuring completion per development process constraints.
• Recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standards.

Compensation is influenced by location, federal contract labor categories, prior experience, skillsets, education, and certifications. The salary range for this role is $170,000 – $200,000 USD.
