Main Purpose of Job
The main purpose of this position is to provide non-emergency medical transportation for the Caroline County Health Department in a safe, professional, efficient and courteous manner.
Minimum QualificationsSix months of experience operating automotive vehicles transporting passengers, patients or clients. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Vehicle Operations classifications or Motor Transport or Vehicle Operations specialty codes in the passenger transporting field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

- Experience performing, recording, maintaining and submitting vehicle safety checks, operational logs and records.
- Experience ensuring cleanliness, functionality and safety of a vehicle and its components.
- Experience moving clients on wheelchair lifts into and out of the vehicle as well as positioning and securing patients and clients in vehicles.
- Employees must possess or obtain a Class C non-commercial driver’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
- Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which involve the operation of large passenger vehicles. Employees assigned these duties will be required to possess a driver’s license of the appropriate class valid in the State of Maryland.
- Employees in this classification will be required to successfully complete and maintain current certification of cardiopulmonary resuscitation, violence management and basic first aid training.
- Employees may be subject to call-in 24 hours a day and, therefore, may be required to provide the employer with a telephone number where they can be reached.
- Some positions in this classification may be assigned duties which require the employee to operate a vehicle with a manual transmission.
- Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
