About this position

Due to our continued growth, Wright Manufacturing, Inc. (WMI), an award‑winning producer of commercial‑grade lawn equipment, is seeking a detail‑oriented and dependable Shipping Clerk to join our Internal Logistics Operations team.

As a Shipping Clerk
, you will play a critical role in ensuring products are shipped accurately, efficiently, and on time. Serving as the final checkpoint before products leave our facility, you will help maintain smooth shipping operations, coordinate freight movements, prepare shipping documentation, and support overall warehouse organization. This position is ideal for individuals who thrive in a fast‑paced environment and take pride in accuracy, teamwork, and customer satisfaction.

Overtime may be required on a daily or weekly basis.

Essential Functions of the Shipping Clerk
  • Full Truckload (FTL) Shipments – Domestic and International
    • Directing drivers as necessary, to maintain order and safety
    • Systematically scanning/picking applicable product as it gets loaded onto the truck
    • Ensuring WIP (work in process) is organized by customer name and staged efficiently
    • Ensuring correct products are loaded, in the correct sequence
    • Assisting teammates in any sort of truckload preparation that’s needed
    • Preparing/completing any applicable shipping packet/customs paperwork that’s needed (picklists, load sheets, BOLs, etc.)
    • Relaying/reiterating any special shipping instructions that accompany the load
  • Less‑Than‑Truckload (LTL) Shipments
    • Directing drivers as necessary, to maintain order and safety
    • Ensuring WIP (work in process) is staged efficiently and by carrier
    • Assisting teammates in any sort of order preparation that’s needed
    • Preparing/completing any applicable shipping packet that’s needed (picklists, load sheets, BOLs, etc.)
  • Ground Shipments (Fed Ex, UPS, and other parcel carriers)
    • Pack, weigh, and label all ground shipments and complete all necessary system transactions/paperwork requirements
    • Sustain the organization of ground shipments waiting to be picked up daily
  • Additional Responsibilities
    • Invoicing of orders promptly after loading
    • Operating forklift activities as needed
    • Manage storage, organization and return booking for all supplier returnable dunnage
    • Facilitate the preparation and shipping of marketing materials
    • Assist PFD order pickers and material handlers as needed
    • Participate in all 5S methodology
    • Develop and maintain a Kaizen mindset of continuous improvement and be a key contributor in all Kaizen activities
Requirements
  • Ability to lift items weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Experience working in a fast‑paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain a high level of physicality for prolonged periods and working primarily standing
  • Experience with WMS/Microsoft Office
  • UPS and Fed Ex system knowledge preferred (domestic and international shipments)
  • Interpersonal skills are essential, as working as a team is vital to maintaining an organized warehouse
  • Experience using a forklift and professional forklift certification is strongly preferred
  • Ability to solve problems quickly and prioritize daily tasks according to their importance
  • Personal accountability and integrity
  • Customer service experience
  • Good written and verbal skills
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous warehouse, shipping, logistics, distribution, or manufacturing experience preferred
  • Forklift certification or prior forklift operating experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with domestic and international shipping processes preferred
