Position Summary
Represent the Cooperative in the promotion of Cooperative services and programs to members and employees by meeting with current or prospective members to establish, transfer or terminate electric service, assist with member inquiries or complaints, collect membership fees, deposits, and trip fees. Responsible for resolving member billing questions and inquiries, collection of outstanding accounts, setting up payment arrangements, and reducing account delinquency.
Responsible for non-pay disconnects and collection of two billing cycles.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Accept applications for new and/or existing electric services, collect membership fees, deposits, trip fees, and coordinate connects/disconnects.Provide members with billing information such as billing dates, delinquent dates and associated late charges, bill amounts, collection date, and collection charges in the office, over the telephone and email.Create service orders for new service, termination of service, meter changes, disconnection and reconnection for non-pay, and other service requests.Aid members regarding energy use. Assists with identifying areas of energy usage and energy conservation.Design and communicate a Deferred Payment Arrangement for members who are unable to pay their current/past due bill.Perform other tasks and duties related to the credit and collections functions which are required for the accomplishment of department and Cooperative objectives.Update addresses and other information on active and inactive accounts.Assist with phones and member assistance during outages and emergencies.Conduct research, prepare, analyze, and present data and reports, and coordinate resources.Correspond and communicate with all departments within the cooperative.Assist in setting up for Cooperative functions, including the District and Annual meetings.Assist with group presentations on energy-related topics to civic organizations and schools.Assist with media relations and other related events.Maintain a safe working environment.In addition to these responsibilities, may be assigned by the Member Services Manager to perform other duties from time to time.Education
A high school diploma or equivalency is required. Associate degree in office management, business administration, secretarial administration, or related field preferred.
Experience
Minimum 1 year of customer relations experience required.
Job Knowledge
Continuing education in computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and databases is preferred. Continuing education in Microsoft Office software applications is preferred. Continuing education in customer service is preferred.
Abilities and Skills
Must be able to communicate in English, both in written and oral forms with the public, vendors, and co-workers.Must be able to lift/move 25 pounds or more, as necessary, without external assistance from personnel or mechanical aids.Must possess excellent computer skills with word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.Must be well organized, personable, and able to exercise discretion and use sound judgment in dealing with people and confidential information.Must be able to multitask.Must possess a valid Texas driver’s license with a clear driving record.Bilingual (Spanish) abilities are preferred.Working Environment
This position requires working most of the time inside an office building with the usual office conditions. The position required repetitive motions and manual dexterity for duties such as dialing and keyboarding. The individual must be able to use office equipment such as a copier, facsimile, calculator, computer, and printer. The individual must be able to present information to others and work to deadlines.
As a part-time position, work hours are limited to less than 30 hours per week, and fall within the typical Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. work schedule. Occasional work outside this normal period may be required, including callouts during emergency/disaster situations.
