TPWD - Maintenance Specialist III (Operations Ranger – Backup UPO) (REOPEN)

Apply for the Maintenance Specialist III (Operations Ranger – Backup UPO) position with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. This role provides essential support for Enchanted Rock State Natural Area, ensuring the safety, appearance, and functionality of park facilities while upholding environmental and safety standards.

• Perform complex building maintenance and construction, including routine and advanced repairs.
• Operate and maintain park equipment such as trucks, tractors, mowers, power tools, and other machinery.
• Act as the Back‑Up Utility Plant Operator:
• Assist in operating, maintaining, and repairing the Water Distribution System.
• Ensure regulatory compliance with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) and TPWD.
• Complete required reports and laboratory testing.
• Serve visitors by enforcing park rules and regulations, directing traffic, and providing visitor services.
• Conduct search/rescue operations and interpret natural resource regulations.
• Support resource‑management tasks and assist in daily park operations.
• Comply with all Agency, Division, and Branch rules, regulations, and procedures.

• Education: High School diploma or GED.
• Experience: Three years of facility, equipment, or grounds maintenance experience.
• Licenses: Valid Texas driver’s license within 30 days of employment;
  Class "D" Water and Wastewater license from TCEQ within one year of employment.
• Ability to maintain required licenses and comply with TCEQ criminal‑conviction guidelines.

• Experience working with public‑sector maintenance or related fields.
