Description
We are seeking a compassionate, clinically skilled Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to provide comprehensive mental health care for patients across the lifespan. The ideal candidate will assess, diagnose, and treat psychiatric and substance use disorders; prescribe and manage medications; provide psychotherapy and patient education; and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver safe, evidence‑based, patient‑centered care.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, mental status examinations, and risk assessments.
- Diagnose mental health and substance use disorders and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Prescribe, monitor, and adjust psychiatric medications in accordance with state law and clinical best practices.
- Provide psychotherapy, counseling, crisis intervention, and brief behavioral health interventions as appropriate.
- Order and interpret relevant laboratory tests and coordinate referrals for additional medical or behavioral health services.
- Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment options, medications, coping strategies, and relapse prevention.
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, primary care providers, therapists, social workers, and other care team members.
- Maintain timely, accurate documentation in the electronic health record and support regulatory, quality, and safety standards.
- Master’s or Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from an accredited nurse practitioner program with a psychiatric‑mental health focus.
- Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse licensure as required by the state of practice.
- Board certification as a Psychiatric‑Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP‑BC) or eligibility to obtain certification.
- DEA registration and prescriptive authority, if required for the role.
- Experience in psychiatric, behavioral health, addiction medicine, community mental health, or related clinical settings preferred.
- Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, therapeutic rapport, and cultural competence.
- Knowledge of DSM‑5‑TR diagnostic criteria and evidence‑based psychiatric treatment approaches.
- Experience with medication management, psychotherapy modalities, and crisis stabilization.
- Proficiency with electronic health records and telehealth platforms.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and interdisciplinary teams.
- Commitment to ethical practice, confidentiality, and continuous professional development.
