To deliver an exceptional, education-forward wine experience that enhances guest connection to the Fischer & Wieser brand and increases wine program engagement through storytelling, product knowledge, and hospitality. The Wine Specialist serves as an on-floor ambassador of the wine program—guiding tastings, recommending pairings, and creating memorable guest interactions that drive wine sales and deepen brand loyalty.
This role is primarily guest-facing and experience-driven, focused on translating wine knowledge into confident, welcoming service for Das Peach Haus visitors.
Responsibilities- Leads engaging wine tastings that are approachable, educational, and reflective of Hill Country hospitality
- Creates personalized wine recommendations based on guest preferences and experience level
- Initiates conversations that connect wine offerings to Fischer & Wieser food products for thoughtful pairing opportunities
- Enhances the tasting room environment through storytelling, enthusiasm, and product confidence
- Supports peak tasting-room flow by maintaining an organized and welcoming bar experience
- Assists guests with purchase decisions by translating tasting experiences into retail sales
- Participates in special events, wine-focused activations, and weekend service as a primary guest contact
- Maintains working knowledge of all wines offered including origin, varietal, tasting notes, and ideal pairings
- Shares wine knowledge with fellow staff to improve overall team confidence in wine conversations
- Participates in ongoing wine education and training opportunities
- Assists with menu updates, tasting notes, and educational materials for guests
- Supports daily functionality of wine service equipment (e.g. Enomatic machines) during service hour
- Engages guests on the retail floor to support wine-related product sales
- Processes transactions through POS system as needed
- Assists with merchandising wine displays to support guest browsing and discovery
- Maintains cleanliness and readiness of guest-facing wine service area
- Assists leadership with required alcohol reporting documentation as requested
- Supports operational wine tasks as assigned by Retail Manager & VP of Retail Operations
- Work with Wine Specialist 1 to provide accurate inventory numbers for end of month reporting
- Monthly Wine Inventory Counts when necessary
- Strong guest-service orientation and hospitality mindset
- Ability to communicate wine information in an approachable, non-intimidating manner
- Confidence initiating guest interaction and guiding tasting experiences
- Verbal communication and storytelling skills
- Basic POS and computer proficiency
- Positive attitude in a fast-paced, guest-facing environment
- Flexibility to work weekends and special events
- Must meet legal age requirement to serve alcohol
- High School Diploma or GED
- Prior retail or hospitality experience preferred
- Wine service or tasting-room experience preferred
- Current or ability to obtain TABC certification
- Retail tasting-room environment with extended periods of standing and guest interaction
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Weekend availability required
