This entry‑level position demonstrates the ability to perform basic inspections, diagnoses, and repairs of heavy equipment and related components following established procedures. The role works as a member of a team to provide mechanical services that satisfy customer needs and achieve departmental goals. The incumbent relies on instructions, guidelines, and immediate supervision to complete tasks.

• Perform basic troubleshooting and diagnosis of equipment malfunctions and failures
• Assist in rebuilding, repairing, and maintaining equipment and components
• Learn how to plan equipment and component repairs
• Learn how to complete parts orders and identify parts for return
• Maintain all equipment and work areas in a clean, orderly condition
• Complete all documents associated with repairs in a timely manner
• Work safely at all times, adhering to all safety policies, company procedures, and standards
• Work overtime as required by workload and customer needs
• Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, e.g., Pro Tech Technician Training Paths
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance
• Perform other duties as assigned

• General knowledge of equipment and tools, including design, use, repair, and maintenance
• Proficiency with current computer software, hardware, and machine electronic systems
• Operation and control skills – controlling operations of equipment or systems
• Equipment selection skills – determining the tools and equipment needed for a job
• Ability to operate a conventional forklift
• Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and repair equipment
• Ability to quickly operate machine controls to exact position
• Ability to make precise coordinated movements of fingers to manipulate small objects
• Ability to read, write, and understand information
• Ability to listen and understand spoken information and ideas

• Must have/acquire basic mechanic hand and pneumatic tools (metric/standard)

• One or more years of work‑related skill, knowledge, or experience is preferred
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred

• Must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue
• Frequently moves materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds

• Constant movement and use of limbs; requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina
• Ascends/descends with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet, and climbs ladders or equipment
• Be able to maneuver safely and work underneath equipment
• Routinely react to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and must visually inspect work

• Regularly works indoors around moving mechanical parts
• May be exposed to weather extremes when working outside (inclement weather, heat, cold, humidity)
• Noise level may be loud at times
• Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, dust, steam, high-pressure water, and high-speed rotating equipment
• Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment
• Required to perform work in cramped spaces and/or high places
