Overview
Leumas Residential is a national real estate and property management organization that owns and operates affordable and conventional housing communities across the United States. Our mission is centered on long-term community stability, operational excellence, and responsible financial management. We are hiring a Property Accountant to support property management accounting and financial reporting for a multi-property portfolio.
Responsibilities- Manage day-to-day property accounting activities and work closely with property management teams to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial operations.
- Support monthly financial reporting, general ledger maintenance, budgeting activities, and internal accounting controls; contribute to the financial performance of assigned properties.
- Perform property management accounting functions including accounts payable processing, invoice review and coding, weekly check runs, ACH payments, and vendor maintenance; maintain vendor files, W-9 documentation, and support 1099 compliance.
- Review deposit activity, post resident payments, reconcile resident ledgers, and resolve discrepancies using Yardi or similar property management accounting software.
- Prepare income statements and balance sheets, complete general ledger reconciliations, and support the month-end close process.
- Prepare journal entries for prepaid expenses, accruals, and other accounting adjustments prior to finalizing financial reports.
- Assist with operating budgets, expense tracking, variance analysis, and forecasting for property expenses; complete monthly bank reconciliations for operating and security deposit accounts.
- Ensure move-in and move-out charges are posted accurately, process resident refunds within required timelines, and ensure financial activity complies with HUD and conventional housing requirements.
- Track debt service payments, property taxes, and insurance; maintain organized financial records and ensure compliance with GAAP, HUD accounting standards, and company accounting policies.
- Experience in property management accounting, real estate accounting, or affordable housing accounting; proficiency in general ledger accounting, double-entry bookkeeping, accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, journal entries, financial statement preparation, budgeting, forecasting, and month-end close processes.
- Experience with Yardi accounting software, HUD financial reporting, compliance management systems, and conventional housing requirements is strongly preferred.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, effective written and verbal communication, and the ability to meet deadlines while working independently.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, mathematics, or a related field is preferred.
