Spotsylvania County Public Schools is one of the largest School Divisions in Virginia with 31 schools and serving over 24,000 students. As a teacher, you will develop and implement instructional programs tailored to each student, contributing directly to student success.

• Meets and instructs students in assigned locations and times.
• Designs coherent instruction based on subject knowledge, current practices, student needs, community, and curriculum goals.
• Plans instruction to meet Virginia Standards of Learning and division curriculum guidelines.
• Prepares for classes and demonstrates lesson readiness upon request of the building administrator(s).
• Diagnoses individual, group, and program needs and plans for appropriate use of time, materials, and resources.
• Evaluates student progress, provides specific feedback, maintains records, and prepares progress reports.
• Uses diverse assessment strategies to inform short‑term and long‑range instructional decisions.
• Administers standardized tests following established procedures.
• Communicates student performance expectations.
• Documents learning gains with suitable assessment instruments.
• Demonstrates understanding of curriculum, subject, and instructional practices.
• Creates learning experiences that render subject matter meaningful for all students.

Required:

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
• Ability to obtain appropriate license(s) and/or endorsement(s) required by Virginia and the School Board.
• Acceptable rating of prior teaching experience, where applicable.

Preferred:

• Possession of a Virginia Collegiate Professional or Postgraduate Professional License within a specific endorsement area.
• Prior teaching experience within a public school system.
