Essential Job Functions- Meet and instruct the students in assigned locations and at the designated times.
- Design coherent instruction based upon knowledge of subject matter, current instructional practices, students, the community, and curriculum goals.
- Plan instruction to achieve desired objectives that reflect the Virginia Standards of Learning and division curriculum guidelines.
- Prepare for classes assigned and show evidence of lesson preparation upon request of the building administrator(s).
- Diagnose individual, group, and program needs and plan for the appropriate use of time, materials, and resources to match the ability and needs of all students.
- Evaluate students’ progress; provide students with prompt specific evaluative feedback, maintain appropriate records and prepare progress reports.
- Use a variety of assessment strategies and instruments to make both short-term and long-range instructional decisions to improve student learning.
- Administer standardized tests in accordance with established procedures.
- Identify and communicate specific student performance expectations.
- Document student learning gains using appropriate assessment instruments.
- Demonstrate an understanding of curriculum, subject, and current instructional practices.
- Create learning experiences that make the subject matter meaningful for all students.
Required
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
- Ability to obtain appropriate license(s) and/or endorsement(s) as required by the Commonwealth of Virginia and School Board.
- An acceptable rating of prior teaching experience, as applicable.
Preferred
- Currently possesses a Virginia Collegiate Professional or Postgraduate Professional License within a specific endorsement area(s).
- Prior teaching experience within a public school system.

Employment TermsEmployment may be offered as a 10-month (200‑day) contract or a 10.5‑month contract (210 days), at a minimum of 7.5 hours worked per day. This position is evaluated annually. Additional compensation awarded for credits earned toward advanced degrees.
