The Resource Center Learning Specialist supports and advances the mission of FCS by supporting students with learning differences, enabling them to succeed in all areas, and supporting teachers to best meet student needs in the classroom; reports to the Resource Center Coordinator. Works as a Resource Center instructor for Level 1 and Level 2 RTI students, using instructional programs that are appropriate to the students’ needs.
Provides both pull‑out and push‑in, and small‑group interventions, with guidance and direction from the Resource Center Coordinator. Collects and uses data formally and informally to assess student needs and monitor progress. Develops a warm rapport with students and a positive, secure teaching environment. Becomes familiar with grade‑level/course curriculum objectives to support overall school learning goals. Writes quarterly academic goals. Uses school software to track student progress (weekly or bi‑weekly) and to record daily session notes, which cultivates communication and fosters a collaborative approach to student learning.
Develops and updates Educational Service Plans (ESP). Writes quarterly student summaries. Willingly and creatively tailors instruction to meet the individual needs of each student. Communicates with students’ teachers regarding resource provision, classroom learning and assignments, and accommodations/modifications. Assists students in changing non‑academic behaviors that interfere with school performance (e.g., organizational, motivational, attitudinal). Works cooperatively as a team member with parents, administration, and representatives of outside agencies in an appropriate manner to support student learning.
Develops professionally by exploring and being willing to implement new instructional techniques and curriculum. Prepares and turns in daily lesson plans for the week to the Resource Center Coordinator to ensure that student needs are being met. Prays regularly for each student. Attends weekly faculty meetings, Prayer ’N’ Share at least one time weekly, and evening activities of the school as directed;
participates in professional development. Attends various school meetings and functions when requested, such as parent‑teacher conferences and Back to School Night. Arrives at school promptly and stays until such time as necessary responsibilities are completed. Is prompt and faithful with supervision duty on a regularly scheduled basis. Dresses professionally and modestly, following the Staff Dress Code. Seeks an awareness of the total school vision and serves willingly in special areas which enhance the overall effectiveness of the ministry.
The Learning Specialist supports students with learning differences by providing pull‑out and push‑in interventions and monitoring academic progress. They collaborate with teachers, parents, and administration to develop Educational Service Plans and ensure instructional goals are met.
