Middle School History Teacher - 26/27 SY

Spotsylvania County School District – Battlefield Middle, Fredericksburg, Virginia.

Teach and/or train students in various capacities, including general instruction and specialized subjects, for a diverse student population of over 24,000.

• Meet and instruct students in assigned locations and times.
• Design coherent instruction based upon knowledge of subject matter, current instructional practices, students, the community, and curriculum goals.
• Plan instruction to achieve desired objectives that reflect the Virginia Standards of Learning and division curriculum guidelines.
• Prepare for classes assigned and show evidence of lesson preparation upon request of the building administrator(s).
• Diagnose individual, group, and program needs and plan for the appropriate use of time, materials, and resources to match the ability and needs of all students.
• Evaluate students’ progress; provide students with prompt specific evaluative feedback, maintain appropriate records and prepare progress reports.
• Use a variety of assessment strategies and instruments to make both short‑term and long‑range instructional decisions to improve student learning.
• Administer standardized tests in accordance with established procedures.
• Identify and communicate specific student performance expectations.
• Document student learning gains using appropriate assessment instruments.
• Demonstrate an understanding of curriculum, subject, and current instructional practices.
• Create learning experiences that make the subject matter meaningful for all students.

Required

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
• Ability to obtain appropriate license(s) and/or endorsement(s) as required by the Commonwealth of Virginia and School Board.
• An acceptable rating of prior teaching experience, as applicable.

Preferred

• Currently possesses a Virginia Collegiate Professional or Postgraduate Professional License within a specific endorsement area(s).
• Prior teaching experience within a public school system.
