English as a Second Language Adjunct (Summer and Fall 2026)

Germanna Community College, a public community college in Virginia, seeks an ESL Adjunct for the summer and fall terms of 2026. The role involves teaching English as a Second Language both in‑person and online, with responsibilities including course preparation, instruction, grading, and adherence to college policies.

• Teach specific classes in ESL
• Develop course syllabi and instructional materials
• Maintain records, assign grades, and assess student progress
• Adhere to policies, procedures, and regulations of GCC and the VCCS
• Maintain current competence in the discipline of ESL

Provide quality instruction, meet assigned classes regularly, submit required records and reports routinely, teach prescribed courses with established texts, and adhere to professional ethics in accordance with College policies.

• Bachelor’s degree in ESL or related discipline such as English, Foreign Language, or Linguistics
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
• Potential for facilitating student success
• Willingness to assume relevant technological skills required for effective teaching
• Experience with or willingness to learn artificial intelligence tools
• Commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity
• Indication of teaching and service furthering a culturally diverse educational environment

• 18 graduate semester hours of coursework in applied linguistics or TESOL
• ESL teaching experience at a secondary level
• Maintenance of currency in the professional discipline
• Computer skills for learning management systems such as Canvas
• Willingness to support strategic goals of Germanna Community College
