Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to student needs.
  • Deliver engaging, standards-based instruction that addresses academic, social, and adaptive goals.
  • Utilize evidence-based strategies for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
  • Employ and monitor Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and implement behavior intervention plans.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including therapists and support staff.
  • Supervise and mentor paraprofessionals within the classroom environment.
  • Track student progress through thorough data collection and maintain all compliance documentation.
  • Cultivate a classroom atmosphere that prioritizes safety, structure, and engagement.
  • Foster essential communication, social interaction, and self-regulation skills using structured teaching tools.
Candidate Qualifications
  • Active Virginia Special Education Teaching License or eligibility required.
  • Experience developing and managing IEPs in a school setting.
  • Strong knowledge of special education compliance and behavioral intervention strategies.
  • Classroom management skills and a collaborative approach with support teams and families.
  • Preferred:
    Experience with elementary students on the autism spectrum, self-contained classroom settings, ABA principles, visual schedules, and functional communication systems.
  • Crisis prevention or de-escalation training considered a plus.
