Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to student needs.
- Deliver engaging, standards-based instruction that addresses academic, social, and adaptive goals.
- Utilize evidence-based strategies for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
- Employ and monitor Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and implement behavior intervention plans.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including therapists and support staff.
- Supervise and mentor paraprofessionals within the classroom environment.
- Track student progress through thorough data collection and maintain all compliance documentation.
- Cultivate a classroom atmosphere that prioritizes safety, structure, and engagement.
- Foster essential communication, social interaction, and self-regulation skills using structured teaching tools.
- Active Virginia Special Education Teaching License or eligibility required.
- Experience developing and managing IEPs in a school setting.
- Strong knowledge of special education compliance and behavioral intervention strategies.
- Classroom management skills and a collaborative approach with support teams and families.
- Preferred:
Experience with elementary students on the autism spectrum, self-contained classroom settings, ABA principles, visual schedules, and functional communication systems. - Crisis prevention or de-escalation training considered a plus.
