we are seeking a training specialist intern through the dow’s skillbridge program. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on connecting with learners, facilitating hands-on instruction, and helping others succeed in high-stakes environments.

_ to be eligible for dow skillbridge job opportunites you must be an active member of the u.s. Military with 180 days of service or fewer remaining prior to your date of separation and have at least 180 continuous days of active service. _

key responsibilitiestraining delivery
  • lead dynamic, hands-on training sessions in both in-person and virtual environments.
  • consistently bring energy, enthusiasm, and a learner-first mindset to every training.
  • adapt delivery methods to meet the needs of varied learning styles and professional backgrounds.
  • evaluate training effectiveness and make data-driven improvements to enhance participant outcomes.
  • stand and actively engage with learners for extended periods during training sessions.
training development
  • collaborate with subject matter experts to design, revise, and improve training curricula focused on hazmat/cbrn topics.
  • create engaging instructional materials, including slide decks, activities, and assessments.
  • apply best practices in instructional design and adult learning theory.
training sales support
  • partner with the sales team to support pre- and post-sales activities related to training.
  • participate in client presentations and demonstrate the value of our training solutions.
training facility utilization and development
  • set up, break down, and manage the training facility to support in-person courses.
  • maintain a clean, organized, and safety-compliant environment.
  • integrate current industry trends and tools into the training environment.
presentation graphics
  • design clear, visually engaging presentation materials aligned with company branding.
  • support content development for vip demonstrations, conferences, and stakeholder presentations.
key initiatives
  • in-person training growth: lead the delivery of training at our fredericksburg facility and customer sites worldwide.
  • curriculum enhancement: work closely with subject matter experts to keep training content fresh, relevant, and aligned with real-world needs.
  • course development support: assist in developing content for major industry conferences, vip engagements, and live demonstrations.
physical and travel requirements
  • ability to stand, walk, lift, and move training equipment for extended periods (up to 8 hours).
  • must be physically fit and able to work in diverse environmental conditions (indoors, outdoors, hot/cold weather, industrial environments).
  • willingness and ability to travel approximately 50% of the time, including nights and weekends as required by client needs.
qualifications & skills
  • 5+ years of experience in the military, fire service, ems, law enforcement, or related field.
  • 2+ years of direct hazmat/cbrn response experience (e.g., nfpa/osha hazmat tech, army 74d, marine 5711).
  • bachelor’s degree in emergency management, homeland security, or related field (preferred).
  • strong knowledge of hazmat/cbrn principles, tools, and practices.
  • demonstrated passion for training, instruction, and learner engagement.
  • excellent communication, presentation, and instructional skills.
  • experience with instructional design, training development, and lms platforms.
  • high energy, proactive problem-solving, and a hands-on leadership style.
