Engineering Technician

Overview

The Engineering Technician is responsible for fabricating, assembling, modifying, and evaluating electronic/mechanical parts, components or integrated circuitry for electronic equipment and other hardware systems including thermal management, control, and power distribution.

Job description is for the Engineering Technician position in Boyd’s Advanced Cooling Division located in Fredericksburg, VA, part of Boyd Thermal Solutions, Inc.

• Assemble electrical product designs within an inter-disciplinary team to address complex product design and manufacturing challenges including cable fabrication, electronic enclosure wiring, system cable routing, printed circuit board soldering, and wiring quality checks.
• Assemble mechanical system components including motors, heat exchangers, piping, cable routing, printed circuit board install, and rack structures.
• Install electrical components, create and review schematics, perform PCB repair and fabrication, and assist in finding vendors to fabricate designed PCBs.
• Lead testing on new and modified designs, develop and carry out test plans and qualification testing required for production launch.
• Maintain product documentation (drawings and specifications) and lessons learned; produce assembly work instructions, test reports, operating manuals and test procedures.

• 3+ years of relevant work experience in electrical and mechanical part/system assembly and test.
• Competent in reading drawings, schematics, and work instructions.
• Demonstrated experience in board-level electronic circuit soldering, including mixed-signal analog/digital.
• Experience with serial data, power, and sensor cable fabrication and quality checks.
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical issues during board bring-up and validation.
• Comfortable with standard lab equipment (DMM, oscilloscope, signal generators, soldering equipment, general power tools).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
• Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills; team player in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity.
