Job Summary

Obsidian Labs is the applied innovation and rapid engineering division of Obsidian Solutions Group (OSG). We are dedicated to transforming emerging technologies into operational capabilities that solve complex challenges across defense, national security, public safety, and commercial sectors. Our multidisciplinary teams design, develop, integrate, test, and mature advanced systems that enhance human‑machine teaming, autonomous operations, immersive training environments, sensor integration, and AI‑enabled decision support.

Obsidian Labs is seeking a highly motivated Electrical Engineer with at least five (5) years of professional experience to support the design, development, integration, testing, and sustainment of advanced electronic and electromechanical systems. The selected candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary teams including software, mechanical, systems, and manufacturing engineers to develop innovative products and prototypes supporting government and commercial customers.

This position offers the opportunity to contribute across the entire product lifecycle—from concept development and requirements analysis through prototype fabrication, testing, validation, and production transition.

Specific Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and analyze analog, digital, mixed‑signal, and power electronic circuits.
  • Develop electrical architectures and interface designs for complex systems.
  • Create schematics, PCB layouts, wiring diagrams, and engineering documentation.
  • Perform component selection, circuit simulation, and design trade studies.
  • Support embedded systems integration, including microcontrollers, sensors, communications modules, and power systems.
  • Develop and execute electrical test plans, validation procedures, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for system deficiencies.
  • Support prototype fabrication, assembly, integration, and field testing activities.
  • Collaborate with software, mechanical, manufacturing, and systems engineering teams throughout product development.
  • Participate in technical reviews, design reviews, and customer demonstrations.
  • Support production readiness, manufacturing transition, and sustainment efforts.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable industry, military, and regulatory standards.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related discipline.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of professional electrical engineering experience.
  • Experience designing and analyzing analog and digital electronic circuits.
  • Experience with PCB design tools such as KiCad, Altium Designer, OrCAD, Eagle, or equivalent.
  • Experience using electrical simulation and analysis tools.
  • Knowledge of embedded systems, microcontrollers, and sensor integration.
  • Experience developing engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with laboratory test equipment including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, power supplies, and multimeters.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Experience with defense, aerospace, national security, or public safety systems.
  • Experience developing ruggedized electronics for harsh environments.
  • Knowledge of EMI/EMC design and testing principles.
  • Experience with RF communications systems, wireless technologies, or GPS integration.
  • Experience with battery‑powered and low‑power electronic systems.
  • Familiarity with MIL‑STD‑810, MIL‑STD‑461, IPC standards, and related engineering standards.
  • Experience supporting product development from prototype through production.
  • Active U.S. security clearance or ability to obtain one.
