Summary:

The Technician Professional is responsible for fabricating, assembling, modifying, and evaluating electronic/mechanical parts, components or integrated circuitry for electronic equipment and other hardware systems including thermal management, control, and power distribution.

Boyd’s Advanced Cooling Division, located in Fredericksburg, VA, is developing innovative thermal solutions for the enterprise and aerospace/defense industry. The team is seeking to grow our multi-disciplined engineering and technician team to tackle new challenges in the industry and is seeking a talented Senior Technician to fill a critical role within the team.

The Technician will be a member of a multi-discipled engineering team to provide innovative thermal solutions to the enterprise and aerospace/defense industry. The role will include:

• Assembling electrical product designs within an inter-disciplinary team to address complex product design and manufacturing challenges including cable fabrication, electronic enclosure wirings, system cable routing, printed circuit board soldering, and wiring quality checks
• Assembling mechanical system components including motors, heat exchangers, piping, cable routing, printed circuit board install, rack structures
• Install electrical components, create and review schematics, perform PCB repair and fabrication, and assist in finding vendors to fabricate designed PCBs
• Lead testing on new and modified designs
• Develop and carry out test plans and qualification testing required for production launch
• Maintain product documentation (drawings and specifications) and lessons learned; produce assembly work instruction, test reports, operating manuals and test procedures

• 2-10+ years of relevant work experience in electrical and mechanical part/system assembly and test
• Competent in reading drawings, schematics, and work instructions
• Demonstrated experience in board-level electronic circuit soldering, including mixed-signal Analog/Digital
• Experience with serial data, power, and sensor cable fabrication and quality checks
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical issues during board bring up and validation
• Comfortable with standard lab equipment: DMM, oscilloscope, signal generators, soldering equipment, general power tools
• Team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands
• Strong communication skills; oral, written, and presentation
• Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results
• Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity
• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
