Senior Highway Project Engineer
We're seeking a highly experienced Senior Highway Project Engineer to lead the planning, design, and execution of major highway infrastructure projects in Virginia. With a decade of hands-on experience, you'll be responsible for managing multidisciplinary teams, ensuring regulatory compliance, and delivering projects that enhance transportation networks and community connectivity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct all phases of highway projects—from feasibility studies to final construction—ensuring alignment with budget, schedule, and VDOT quality standards.
- Review and approve detailed engineering designs using software like AutoCAD Civil 3D, Micro Station, or Open Roads
- Ensure all designs and construction activities meet federal, state, and local regulations, including environmental and safety standards.
- Collaborate with government agencies, contractors, utility companies, and community groups to align project goals and secure approvals.
- Develop and monitor project budgets, timelines, and resource allocations using tools like MS Dynamics.
- Conduct site inspections, resolve field issues, and ensure construction adheres to design specifications and safety protocols.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders
- Qualified candidates should have previous experience with VDOT and/or Virginia Localities.

Qualifications:
Education and/or Work Experience
Required:
• Bachelor's Degree in related field (AEC Industry)
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
• Proven experience in planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring engineering projects.
• Proven experience in project management roles, with a track record of successful project delivery.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, team members, and stakeholders.
• Knowledge of industry standards and best practices related to construction management, quality assurance, and safety protocols.
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions in a fast-paced environment.
Education and/or Work Experience Preferred:
• Master's Degree
Certificates, licenses, and/or Registrations
Required:
• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.)
