The Data Center Capacity Delivery team is looking for a Controls Manager who will be responsible for building automation systems and electrical power monitoring system (BMS/EPMS) deployment and service within Amazon data centers.
Responsibilities- Implement and track team goals, reporting status of ongoing projects upwards.
- Develop launch plans for new hires, and identify team needs.
- Install, program, and troubleshoot BMS/EPMS systems and industrial controls systems.
- Write clear and concise documentation and communication.
- Understand electrical diagrams, control diagrams, building operations, control circuits, and industrial HVAC.
- Determine project scope and specifications in alignment with customer needs.
- Manage project engineering to ensure scope aligns with design intent.
- Read and interpret specifications and implement them appropriately.
- Create drawings for control panels, power distribution, junction boxes, including general arrangement, internal layout, schematics, interconnection, and wire diagrams.
- Develop logic diagrams in International Automation format for PLCs and DCS.
- Inspect, test, and commission facility systems.
- Provide technical assistance to internal customers.
- Coordinate project work internally within the department and externally with other departments to ensure on‑time completion within budget.
- Experience operating a mission‑critical team or product.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or equivalent engineering plus 8+ years of controls experience, OR 12+ years of controls experience in lieu of degree.
- 3+ years of experience managing, mentoring, leading, and coaching controls professionals.
- 3+ years of experience hiring, promoting, disciplining, and developing controls teams.
- 4+ years of experience managing large, complex projects involving mechanical, electrical, and controls systems.
- 4+ years of general contractor and vendor management (RFP, bidding, change orders, quality control, RFI and submittal tracking) for controls and project execution.
- 3+ years of experience deploying complex electrical and mechanical controls systems, including large‑scale power distribution or generation, and cooling systems.
- 4+ years of experience developing, monitoring, and maintaining critical path master and micro project schedules for large, mission‑critical projects.
- Experience working with cross‑functional teams to deliver complex construction projects.
- MS in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or other science).
- 6+ years directly managing and coaching controls teams.
- 8+ years of project and vendor management experience.
- 3+ years of experience in data center system‑level architecture and electrical engineering principals.
- 3+ years of experience in data center system‑level architecture and mechanical engineering principals.
- Prior AWS/Amazon experience.
