This is a full-time, on-site role based in Fredericksburg, VA. As the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Fredericksburg City Public Schools, you will oversee and manage the financial operations of the school division.
Responsibilities include budgeting, financial planning, and reporting to ensure fiscal health and compliance with state and federal regulations. The CFO will collaborate with executive leadership to align financial strategies with the school district's goals and vision, lead financial audits, and oversee business operations, including payroll, procurement, and accounting functions. The role also focuses heavily on resource optimization to support student and faculty success.
Qualifications- Extensive experience in financial planning, budgeting, and fiscal analysis
- Proficiency in financial reporting, auditing, accounting, and compliance with regulations
- Strong leadership, organizational, and collaborative problem-solving abilities
- Solid understanding of educational finance or experience working within public schools or government institutions
- Advanced knowledge of economic principles, fiscal management software, and financial practices
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is required; MBA, CPA, or related advanced certification highly preferred
- Ability to work on-site in Fredericksburg, VA, and oversee local education finance operations
