The Accounting Manager – The Publisher Fredericksburg VA is a full-time, on-site role based in Fredericksburg, VA. This role oversees daily accounting operations for the property, including managing the general ledger, preparing and reviewing financial statements, and ensuring accurate and timely journal entries. The Accounting Manager monitors accounts payable and receivable, oversees bank reconciliations, and maintains fixed asset records in accordance with company policies and applicable standards.
The role partners with property leadership to analyze financial performance, support budgeting and forecasting, and provide clear financial insights for decision-making. Additional responsibilities include maintaining internal controls, supporting audits, mentoring accounting team members, and collaborating with corporate finance to ensure compliance with Hotel Equities’ procedures.
- Strong financial reporting capabilities, including experience preparing, reviewing, and analyzing financial statements.
- Proficiency in core accounting functions such as journal entries, general ledger management, and period-end closing activities.
- Experience managing and tracking fixed assets, including capitalization, depreciation, and disposals in line with company policy.
- Well-developed analytical skills to interpret financial data, identify trends, and provide meaningful insights to property leadership.
- Solid understanding of finance principles, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management within a multi-department environment.
- Previous experience in hospitality or property-level accounting is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with accounting software and MS Excel; experience with hotel or property management systems is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Strong attention to detail, integrity in handling financial information, and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
- Effective communication and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and support team development.
